Bullying and harassment at work can be very traumatic and distressing and have far reaching and devastating consequences. Many employees often endure bullying or harassment at work without knowing where to turn or who to talk to.

Our employment team have vast experience of dealing with harassment claims, enabling your problem to be dealt with both quickly and sympathetically.

It may be that you have been subjected to offensive, intimidating, malicious, or insulting behaviour or an abuse or misuse of power that has undermined, humiliated or injured you.

You may have been subjected to unwelcome conduct relating to race, sex, age, disability, religion or belief or sexual orientation which makes you feel intimidated, degraded, humiliated or offended.

Bullying and harassment can take many different forms and is not always face to face. It may occur through written communications such as email, or over the telephone, or by using visual images such as embarrassing photographs or sexual material.

Bullying and harassment are most commonly manifested through:

  • Physical violence
  • Verbal abuse such as taunting, name calling or threatening remarks
  • Unwelcome sexual advances; touching, suggestive behaviour or getting too close to an individual making them feel uncomfortable
  • Victimisation after refusing unwanted sexual advances
  • Humiliation

Nonetheless it can also take more subtle forms:

  • Being given menial or demeaning tasks
  • Receiving  unrealistic deadlines or being overloaded with work
  • Given responsibilities outside of your current role
  • Continually being undermined or criticised for no apparent reason

Bullying and harassment in the workplace can make you feel isolated and anxious, fearing the prospect of having to go into work each day. It can leave you feeling insecure within your job role and can even lead to resignation.

Our experienced team of legal professionals can discuss any problems you may have and ensure your concerns are handled with the utmost care and sensitivity.

Please get in touch with us straight away if you are affected by bullying or harassment.  We can offer legal advice.  Time limits can be short so we recommend taking formal advice as soon as possible.
